Hi, thanks for sending the instructions over. This only allows me to set one hourly rate, but I need to set two different hourly rates. One for weekdays and one for the weekend, is this possible in this version of payroll?

Hi Daniel.

I appreciate you for reaching out to us here on the Community page. I'm here to share with you some additional information about setting up pay rates with QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.

With Standard Payroll, you can only set a single pay rate per employee. If you want to update the employee's rate. Go to the Employee details section, then modify the Pay rate from there.

QuickBooks Online makes it easy for you to create different hourly pay rate types for special types of work, daniel-lawrence.

If you're using the Pay suite, you can only set up a single default hourly rate for each employee. But you have the option to add additional rates and the number of hours for each employee under the Variable Input tab.

For QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll,  you can go to your employee's profile, this allows you to set up different rates and titles. Once set up, when you run payroll you will be given the option to enter the pay for either of the two rates that you want to set up. Please read this article for more information and detailed steps: Get set up for QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.

If an employer wants to pay employees at different frequencies, then they will set up a pay schedule for each employee. For your reference, read these articles for more information:

Thanks for getting back to me.

I believe I am using pay suite can you advise me on how I can add an additional rate and the number of hours works worked at this rate by the employee.

What I am trying to achieve is an hourly rate for a week day and a rate for the weekend. At the moment their payslip only shows how many hours they have worked at the standard week day rate but for the weekend it is displayed as the total amount earned which I have to calculate manually but doesn't show the amount of hours they have actually worked.

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi @daniel-lawrence,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

If you have PaySuite as your payroll service, I suggest you consider upgrading to either QuickBooks Online (QBO) Standard or Advanced Payroll. PaySuite will be discontinued by the end of the 2019/20 tax year.

When you're done with the upgrade, depending on the version you chose, take a look at the articles below:

The hub articles contain links to every other related article to a specific payroll service, including a Get started guide so you can familiarise yourself with the new payroll service.

If you have other questions about your payroll service in QBO, then feel free to post a reply below. I'll be sure to get back to you.
