I paid a contractor today and the money is supposed to come out my checking account from another back but I didn’t know that so I wired the money from my primary bank to the bank account I have with quickbooks now I’m afraid the contractor will not be paid.

Thank you for reaching out regarding the payment concern, Resurgence. I understand the urgency of your situation and the importance of ensuring your contractor receives their payment on time. I appreciate you bringing this to our attention and am here to help you navigate the process and share insight.

To begin with, if you're using direct deposit for contractors in QuickBooks Online, the contractor will still receive their payment even if you used the wrong company bank account. QBO prioritizes contractor payments to ensure timely disbursement.

However, there's a possibility your account might be flagged as Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) and temporarily placed on hold if the funds aren't available in the correct linked account when QBO attempts to withdraw them.

Since you've already transferred the funds to your QuickBooks bank account, the system automatically attempts to debit the funds again. You will receive a notification when this happens. If the funds are unavailable, the amount is returned to your bank account. It's essential to ensure that the correct bank account is linked to your QuickBooks for future transactions to avoid potential issues.

Additionally, you can check this article on what to do if you have an NSF hold: Resolve a non-sufficient fund (NSF) hold on your payroll service.

Moreover, refer to this article on how your contractors can add their 1099 tax info in QBO and QuickBooks Contractor Payments: Invite a contractor to add their tax info.

I hope this information helps clarify the situation and your concerns. If you have further questions or if there's anything else you need assistance with, please don't hesitate to reply below. I'm committed to ensuring your QuickBooks experience is as smooth and efficient as possible.
