Hi, Can I remove an administrator from my account? They have agreed to release my account but it's taking a long time and I need to add payroll asap.

Welcome to the Community, @chris-1callelect. I'm here to guide you through the process in removing an administrator in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before we start, may I know if you're referring to the Primary or Master Admin? This user has the highest level of access in all parts of the QBO account. To remove this, you'll have to transfer the role to another user or yourself. Let me guide you on how:

1. Sign in to your QBO account using the current primary admin credentials.
2. Once opened, click the Settings icon.
3. Then, choose the Manage users feature.
4. From there, look for the user you want to make the primary admin.
5. Next, in the Role column, make sure they are listed as Admin. If they’re not, select Edit to change their role to admin.
6. Select the small arrow in the Action section. Then, click Make primary admin.
7. A verification code will be sent to the phone number or email on file for the account. When you receive the verification code, enter it and select Continue.
8. Select Make primary admin again to confirm the change.
9. When done, sign out of QuickBooks. 

If it's a Company Admin, you can simply remove this by logging in as the primary or master admin. This role also has the access to every part of the account but they can't remove or update the primary admin access. Here's how:

1. Log in to the QBO account using the primary admin credentials.
2. Next, click the Settings icon.
3. Then, select Manage users.
4. Look for the user you want to remove. Then, click the arrow icon in the Action column.
5. Select Delete. 
6. In the confirmation window, click Delete again.

Are they your former accountant? If you have any access as Company Admin, you may have a backup option in case they intentionally withhold the access.
