How do I deduct 3 hous pay from my employee without adjusting the main salary figure - I want it to show as a deduction before tax?

Before tax deductions are not possible on QuickBooks standard payroll. The only way to do this would be to adjust the salary, or as a after tax deduction. You can enter an after tax deduction by going to Employees, selecting the employee and clicking the + icon at the bottom of the screen. You can then select deductions and set up your own.
