Question

I have employee on SMP which ended on 30th March. I then ran a normal payroll 8th April. The SMP should only end on 5th May. How do I reinstate SMP until 5th May?

I cannot change dates on SMP entry as I have already run a normal payroll for her.

Thanks for sharing your concern in the QuickBooks Community page, @jonathan-armstro.

You can still undo your pay run to correct your data in QuickBooks.

If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced Payroll, you can delete the transaction and recreate it again. Let me walk you through the steps.

First, unlock the pay run so you can edit, update and recalculate the values associated with a chosen pay run. Here's how:

  1. In Advanced Payroll, click the Pay Runs tab.
  2. Choose the pay period you wish to unlock.
  3. Select Pay Run Actions, then Unlock.
  4. Enter the reason for unlocking the data in the comments.
  5. Click Unlock to confirm.

Now that the pay run is unlocked, select Delete Pay Run. Then, click Delete to confirm. Please know that once you delete it this cannot be undone and you won't be able to retrieve any related data.

After deleting the transaction, you can now recreate the pay run and ensure to enter the correct data.

In case you're using a Standard Payroll, there are certain things you need to know before deleting a pay run. You can check them out in this article: Delete a pay run in QBO Standard Payroll.

When you're done checking and proceed to delete the transaction, here's how to recreate it in QBO Standard Payroll

Moreover, check out the list of payroll reports you use for QBO Standard and Advanced Payroll versions. This way, you can get a closer look at your business's finances and view useful information about your business and employees.

I'm always here to help if you have any other concerns or questions. Just tag my name in the comment section and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Have a good one.
