I have put a Nom acc as staff salaries. How do I edit this to show it as an expense item?

Welcome to the community page,

This account type can be edited from the chart of the accounts section in your Quickbooks.

accounting tab left -hand side>chart of accounts> find the account>edit>change the information you need and then save.
