I appreciate you for setting up payroll in QuickBooks Online (QBO) for the next tax year, tracey. You were asked to run payroll due today since April 5, 2025, is still part of the previous tax year period. Let's get into the details.

You can start running payroll on April 6 since the new tax year starts from April 6, 2025, to April 5, 2026. You can update this from the Payroll Settings. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Payroll Settings.
  2. Click the Edit icon from the Active tax year.
  3. From the Set active tax year page select the new tax year option.
  4. Select Save.
