Intermittent employees and payroll

How does payroll work within quick books when I employ people intermittently depending on workload etc.

They may work two weeks of the month or not at all for six months. 

They are my friends and the only way to give them work is on a PAYE basis rather than CIS so they are covered by our public liability etc

Hello there, @Jamesc1.

 

For intermittent employees, you can have their status as Paid irregularly. You can follow the steps below to get this done.

 

  1. Go to the Employees or Payroll menu, 
  2. On the Employees page, select the name of the employee whose details you want to change.
  3. In the Employment details, choose Paid irregularly. Then, Yes since this employee is not going to be paid for at least 3
  4. Once done, click Save to reflect the changes.
