I missed recording a payroll for April, how do I fix?  What does this do to the reporting?

I’m chiming in on this thread to get you covered about entering a backdated paycheck in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @deal1tc.

As long as it's not a direct deposit and you haven't already submitted any paperwork or paid your taxes for that time period, you can establish a paycheck with a previous check date.

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, and select Employees.
  2. Select Run payroll.
  3. If asked, select a payroll schedule.
  4. Modify the Pay date and Pay period to the date you missed your employee’s payroll.
  5. Choose your employee, then enter their wage or number of hours worked.
  6. The pay method should be a Paper check.
  7. Preview and submit payroll.

If you happen to get any error message after performing the steps above. I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team to rectify the message and provide fixes in no time.

Once sorted out, you can also pull up a variety of payroll reports in QuickBooks. This will give you a closer look at your employee's total wages, deductions, and tax information in a certain period. For the complete list of available payroll reports and how to pull them up, kindly refer to this article: View reports in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.
