Question

My closing stock figure doesn't show up on the balance sheet. How do I edit the account to make sure it's included?

I use Quickbooks online but I noticed that the closing stock figure doesn't show so I need to know how to make sure certain accounts are included in the balance sheet.  I also have this issue with my debtors and creditors account not showing balances on the trial balance.  Not sure if this was an issue from migrating from Sage.

Hello there, jemmab1734.

You don't have to edit your account as long as it is set up properly. QuickBooks generates the Balance Sheet report with starting and ending inventory value as long as you are utilizing inventory items and have created or used an account for them. It's how QuickBooks populate the details you need.

  1. Log in to your QBO account and go to the Reports menu.
  2. Search Balance Sheet in the field box.
  3. Click the Report period drop-down and set the correct date range.
  4. You can add more details, press the Customise button.
  5. Once done, hit Run Report to view the changes.

In your case, this issue can also caused by the limitations when moving from Sage to QuickBooks. Please refer to this article for more details: Our comprehensive guide to Dataswitcher. Click the Moving from Sage50 to view the complete information.

To add the missing data in QuickBooks, you can manually record them.
