Payroll Standard second job tax code ending in BR

I'm unable to add my nephew into my payroll as this is a second job for him.  I just get an error when trying to put in his tax code followed by the BR tag.  is this just not possible in my payroll standard add on for my QuickBooks software?  I'm also reading that should I want to  upgrade the payroll to advanced then all data must be deleted then input again.

thanks.

Hi @dtts

Try SBR - without the 1257.

BR on its own is Basic Rate down here but I don't know for sure there's a Scottish equivalent.

(1257 denotes the amount of Tax Free Pay which is £nil when using BR tax code)

Hope this helps.

Hello Dtts, Thanks for reaching out to the Community! What tax code are you trying to enter? It should allow you to add him in as employee even if this is his 2nd job yes. Have you entered any other detail for him besides personal information?

We're in Scotland so our tax codes are S1257L and if I leave his as that it's fine. If I try though to use S1257BR it just goes red and says a tax code should be numbers and one letter.

Thanks.
