Consistent and accurate payroll processing is essential for maintaining precise financial records, LX1. I've got details on the error message you received and how to fix it so you can proceed with running your payroll.

The prompt occurs when the payroll pay date entered is in a different tax period from the original pay date. It's possible that your payday was set for a date after April 5, 2025, which falls into the next tax year. We can resolve the issue and avoid the error message by updating your payroll tax settings to the 2025/26 tax year.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll.
  2. Click Payroll Settings from your To Do List or Settings.
  3. Choose Active Tax Year > 2025/26.
  4. Hit Save.

However, if your pay date is on or before April 5, 2025, but you're getting the error message, I recommend logging in to your QBO account in another supported browser. This step will help eliminate errors or glitches while using the program.

Additionally, as the current tax year-end approaches, it is best to ensure organized payroll. Check out this helpful resource to gain more information about the payroll deadlines for year-end: Year-end guide for QBO Core Payroll.
