What amount do you enter for a furloughed employee.Is it the full amount of the wages and pay 80% (claimed back off HMRC) or do you enter 80% of the employees wages

To properly track the employee’s furlough, I recommend you get in touch with the HMRC. They can provide detailed information on the amount to enter on the paycheque.

Once you have the details available, create a pay category for furlough. The steps differ depending on the payroll service. Click on the link for the one you’re currently using.

For QuickBooks Online Advance Payroll, check out the steps below:

1. Go to the Gear icon at the top to choose Payroll Settings under Your Company.
   
   
2. On the Advance Payroll Setting page, tap the Pay Categories menu to view the complete list of payroll items.
   
   
3. From there, select which one you want to use for the furlough.
4. If you’re unable to find one that suits the category, click on the Add button.
   
   
5. This will open the New Pay Category window.
6. Next, input the item name and hit Save.
