When trying to pay an employee, why do I get "1 employee profile needs your attention before you can pay them"?

Start by checking the employee profile of the affected error and ensure you fill out all fields marked with an asterisk. Re-entering the information again also ensures that all required details are accurately entered.

After that, let's proceed with logging into your QBO account using a private or incognito browser to verify that all modifications are processed through the software. You can use the keyboard shortcuts below:

• Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
• Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
• Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
• Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

From there, check if you can run payroll and pay your employees. If successful, return to your primary browser and clear its cache. This process helps eliminate browser cookies that may impede the proper functioning of web pages.

However, if the issue persists after all the troubleshooting steps, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Payroll customer care team. With the use of their tools, they can access your account in a safe environment and assess your issue further.

Meanwhile, you can have the option to exclude the employee who is affected and proceed with finalizing the payroll for the other employees. Then, manually process payment for the affected employee and record it manually.
