Question

Why won’t you support the desktop version of QuickBooks? It’s so much better than online?

How can I set a standard user to make bank deposits but not see sensitive information such as accounts balance?

Yes, you can limit a user's permission, @steve-skarott.

We want to make sure that our software is up-to-date with the UK's ongoing tax and accounting developments. With this, we’d also want to ensure that you're using a product that can be updated frequently. That’s why we’re discontinuing the QuickBooks Desktop.

If you're using QBDT 2019, you can access our add on services and subscribe to our live technical support until May 31, 2022. It'll also be phased out by January 31, 2023. This means you won’t be able to utilize the program, so I suggest you export your data. You can save it to your computer before moving to QuickBooks Online or another software account.

Our Discontinuation hub article can also help you decide what options you have regarding the switch. This includes the comparison between the two, along with the help articles for the conversion process.

I understand the convenience of being able to add a standard user so they'll get to make deposits without giving them access to your account balances. However, this is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online. There are also usage limitations when adding them, depending on your subscription.

I’d suggest sending feedback request to our product development team. They will evaluate these and pick some of them to include in future updates. This way, we can help you with your business needs.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under the Profile column, click on Feedback.
  3. Share your feedback. Then, click Next.

You'll want to track your suggestion through this website. You can also visit our blog to keep up with all of our recent events and developments.
