Having issues with your QuickBooks Online integration? Here are some common errors and how to fix them. Contacts push limitation The QuickBooks Online system has a known limitation that doesn’t allow 2 individual contacts with the same name to be pushed through to QuickBooks. For example, in QuickBooks, there exists a contact with the name John Doe with the email johndoe@onesaas.com. When integrating with another system, QuickBooks Connector gets another John Doe contact, however with a different email address and contact details (johndoe2@onesaas.com). Because of this, QuickBooks Connector will treat both John Doe records as separate contacts. However if we try to push the new John Doe into QuickBooks, the QuickBooks API rejects this on the basis that the name is a duplicate. When this happens, we'll automatically append the second contact with a '-1' (John Doe-1) to send it through to QuickBooks Online. Invoice rounding error There is currently a known limitation with the QuickBooks

While it may be possible for us to sync historical data going back years, it's not really the focus of our service and we find that if we go back too far, issues can arise. Here are some of those common issues explained further. API limitations Sometimes, other systems we integrate with will have API limitations of their own. 3rd party APIs set limits that can prevent us from sending too much data at once. For the majority of the time, this is usually okay, as the time we'll only be sending are little bits of data hourly. However, if we're going to push a whole year’s worth of data, we'll most likely hit these limits. As a result, we'll have to wait until the limits reset, then send the next portion of data. This isn't a very smooth process, however, it's an outside limitation that's not in our control. Certain specific eCommerce APIs such as eBay only extract up to 30-90 days' worth of historical data. General Errors with Historical Data One of the most common issues we find with

Learn why you need to use clearing accounts in your accounting systems. In our highly connected, networked, and real-time information world, you’d think when you make a payment on a credit card, the amount is immediately transferred to the merchant. This isn’t the case, and it’s going to take a major change in technology to change that. Banks and other financial institutions will tell you their technology is cutting edge. The real truth is they aren’t, with a few exceptions. The underlying problem is that it takes 2-3 days for funds to clear through the various banking systems around the world. The more parties there are in between, the longer it takes. Technologies like blockchain and smart contracts will eventually fix this, but that’s another story. For now, if you’re an e-commerce merchant and you use a payment gateway to collect money from customers, whether it’s a credit card, Amex, or other payment forms, there’s a delay of 1-3 days in the funds coming into your bank accou
