It's nice to see you here in the Community, Buck Tsai.

I can share some information regarding importing journal entries in QuickBooks Online.

If you're importing journal entries only, you can choose the Import Journal Entry. If you're importing multiple lists of data, then you can use the Import / List / JE option.

QuickBooks Online has multiple ways of importing transactions. One of these options is to import via Excel file. However, we haven't added the option for journal entry yet. The screenshot below is the data that you can import into QuickBooks Online:

As a workaround, you might want to use a 3rd-party application that fills in the gaps for QuickBooks Online with this functionality. Or, manually enter the transactions.

Also, we’re working on releasing new features soon. For product updates, you can check out our blog post for recent changes. We have resources available to help you grow and manage your business, all you need to do is visit the QuickBooks Resource Center for more information.

I'll be sharing the following write-ups below. This will provide you more information about what are the formats that are supported in QuickBooks Online as well as things to remember before importing your data:

If there's anything else I can help you with, please let me know. I'd be more than willing to lend you a hand.

@Buck Tsai

Utilize the trial period of TP Importer to do so.

The template should be like this

RefNumberTxnDatePrivateNoteIsAdjustmentCurrencyExchangeRateAccountLineAmountLineDescEntityClassLocation
10101/10/2020Wire TransferFALSE  Savings-50.00Credit Savings
10101/10/2020Wire TransferFALSE  Checking50.00Debit Checking

Has the Journal Entry import function been added yet for QBO?

Good day to you, @pmmillan,

Thanks for visiting our site and requesting for some updates about importing journal entries in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The import preference for journal entry transactions is currently unavailable. However, I can provide a workaround that you can try if you are using a brand new QBO for South Africa account. The system runs beta for new accounts to import CSV files of the journal entry lines. All you need to do is open a new journal entry and import the data from there.

Don't worry, I've listed the steps for you to follow. Refer to them below:

  1. Click the + New icon and choose Journal entry.
  2. On the upper right-hand section of the transaction, click Import.
  3. Now choose a CSV file to create the journal entry faster.

Please know that we take your requests or suggestions seriously, and our engineers are working hard towards this goal. We can't provide the turnaround time if they will release additional journal entry settings, because they work on this internally.

Don't worry, if there are new updates for QuickBooks transactions and preferences, it will be communicated through in-product ads.

I'll be right here if you need further assistance with your journal entries and other things in QuickBooks. Just leave a comment below. Have a nice day!

Hi - thanks for your prompt response. I don't have an Import button on my Journal Entry screen . I've attached a screenshot for reference.
