Question

migrating from desktop to Online plus

Will be migrating to the Online Plus from my desktop.

1) I am being told that the Plus version does not have budgeting capability.  We run our Income/Expense report against a budget. But some of the online tutorials say yes for the Plus version.  Does the plus have budgets? and can you run reports against them?

2)  Does the plus version allow you to download a report to Excel? Because if no to the above will have to do a merge in Excel.

Hi there, Roberta.

Thank you for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community! Yes, QuickBooks Online Plus does indeed have budgeting capabilities. You can create budgets and run reports to compare your actual income and expenses against your budgeted amounts.

Here's how you can set up and use budgeting in QuickBooks Online Plus:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Tools, select Budgeting.
  3. Click Create budget.
  4. Enter the budget name, Budget Format, fiscal year, interval (monthly, quarterly, or yearly), and additional options like subdividing by class, customer, or location if needed.
  5. Fill in the budgeted amounts for your income and expense accounts.
  6. Click Save.

In QuickBooks Online Plus, you can also export reports to Excel. This feature ensures that you can manage, analyze, and share your financial data in Excel, even if you need to perform further analysis or merge data.

Here's how:

  1. On the left menu, go to Reports.
  2. Open any report you want.
  3. Click the Export icon and choose Excel.
  4. Save it in your local drive.

Additionally, you can also learn how to customise reports in QBO.
