Authorising Quick Books for MTD

I have been submitting my VAT returns using the QuickBooks bridging software but have now got all my accounts set up on QuickBooks so I'm ready to submit my first return fully through QuickBooks. On the VAT page it says I need to take action to reconnect to HMRC and authorise QuickBooks as an agent but when I try to do that, every time  I click the button that says Grant Authority it returns this message:

An unexpected error occurred. Please ensure that you are making a valid request and try again later.

and then boots me back to the start of the process again.

I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting as per the advice in the help and support section but it still does it.

Hello KateAhr,  Are you filing through Making tax digital and if so have you had the email from HMRC confirming this is set up? Are you using the same email as you use on the government gateway and if they gave you new sign in details are you using those?
