Hi, I'm trying to sign up for MTD but it has an error ('can't connect to hmrc...') as when trying to sign up it goes to signing up as an agent page. I am the business owner and cannot find the option for this. If clicking on sign up as an individual on HMRC it only shows a guide but no sign up button.
Hi RBAUTISTA, you'll first need to register for MTD with HMRC - once you've received confirmation of your sign-up via email, you can then use your government gateway details to connect to your MTD account via QuickBooks. Secondly, please check that you're using QuickBooks Online (Simple Start, Essentials or Plus) and not QuickBooks Online Accountant, as the latter will direct you to sign up as an agent - a quick way to check is to navigate to your main dashboard and see if the 'Accountant' icon appears in the top-left.🙂
