Question

VAT submission

My client wants to take over the VAT return submissions. I am Primary Admin user and he is Standard User with full Access at that level. According to QuickBooks webpages he should be able to submit VAT returns.

He would presumably need to record his Government Gateway code and password etc to allow this but it is not obvious how we change from my Gateway credentials to his.

We can see that MTD can be turned "off" but this gives a warning to "unsubscribe" from MTD with a link. That link is broken probably because the MTD sign up routine has changed to become automatic.

Can anyone tell me the procedure.

Hi MattPe, users need to be company or primary admin level to submit VAT. You can switch to client filing by turning off MTD in their account (please disregard the warning; this does not unsubscribe or impact their filing services with HMRC). Once disconnected, please have the client login to QuickBooks and navigate to the cog > account & settings > advanced > MTD to turn this on - from here, they'll be redirected to enter their GG details. 🙂

Thanks GeorgiaC

Why does QuickBooks webpages clearly say that a standard user can file VAT returns, if this is not the case?
