Hi,

I need to allocate my customers a unique number (customer number, account number) that will appear on their invoice and statement.

Can you please tell me how this can be done?

Cheers.

Hi 4G Expo,

Currently, unique fields for a customer or account number are not available as something that will display on their invoices and statements; most of the information included on your customers' details or 'cards' is for your own reference rather than customer facing. You can create a custom field titled 'Customer Number' or so on for the invoices themselves, however these are then filled in when the invoices are created as opposed to prefilled with customer information. See here for more information on custom fields.

At this time, to allocate a unique number to the customer themselves, you would need to add it to the customer details in a field that carries across to the invoice such as Billing Address or Shipping Address. I've included an example below of what that looks like in the Billing Address field.

I would encourage you to submit this in your QuickBooks Online as feedback by going to the Settings icon (top right), then selecting Feedback. As mentioned in your previous post, this feature request has also been submitted to our product development team for consideration, and hope to see it included in a future update. All customer sentiments are being noted as it's always our goal to provide the best experience possible.
