This is not a payment. It is an adjustment to an invoice already sent

Hi saunderscc16,

We can check on the transaction journal of the adjustment note you've entered in QuickBooks Online for you to see the posting of accounts.

To do that, please open the adjustment note. Select More and then Transaction journal. The Accounts Receivable is showing on the Credit section which is why when we go to Chart of Accounts and select Accounts Receivable the adjustment note amount is showing on the Payment column.

Adjustment note with Unapplied status can be linked to open invoices once you record an invoice payment. It will show on the Credits section of the Receive payment page. You can check the status of the adjustment, you can go to Sales and select All Sales or Customers

For more detailed information, you can check on this article: Applying an adjustment note.
