Question

I wish to import invoices but add data to custom fields on my invoice template, why does it not allow this within import process?

My invoices have three mandatory custom fields:
Property Owners Name
Property Address
Work Order Number

All are required on my invoices by real estate clients. The import process gives me no opportunity to map fields from CSV file to those custom fields. How do I resolve this?

Thanks for visiting the Community space today, Evan.

Before anything else, we'd like to thank you for allowing us to help you with your current importing data situation inside QuickBooks Online (QBO). Upon checking here on our system, the option you're trying to access isn't available when importing invoices inside the program. However, as a workaround, you can utilize a third-party application to get through this and complete the importing process. We'll gladly write down the steps to get you going:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, go to the Apps tab.
  3. In the Search bar, enter import invoice or invoice as your keyword.
  4. Choose the app that best suits your business needs.
  5. Once you're ready, click the Get app now button.

Furthermore, we've added these articles to help you manage invoice payments, create personalised template, and ensure your data stays accurate inside the program:

Please let us know if you need further assistance with this, Evan. You can visit us anytime or comment below so we can get back to you and help you with your QuickBooks-related concerns. Stay safe!

Yes, please explain why Quickbooks has failed to support such a basic function of importing invoice data?

If you have allowed invoices to have three custom fields how was that ignored when the import process is designed?

@evan-uniqueservi

You need a 3rd party importer app to do so.

Hi 4Gal,

Thanks for recommending some third party application that allows to import transactions and custom fields. I recommend also checking the Intuit App Center through apps.intuit.com to learn more about the list of supported apps in QuickBooks Online.

Post again in the Community if you have other concerns. I'll be here to help you.

Hold on..... why am I needing a third party app to do a simple function Quickbooks should be directly supporting.

First Intuit make a total farce of claiming you Intergrated Purchase Orders (a complete waste of time and money), then if you upgrade and then decide later to downgrade subscriptions Quickbooks removes data validly supported by both subscription levels.

Now instead of writing decent software your outsourcing and wanting customers to pay extra for simple basic accounting functions.

This is terrible customer service policy
