I've got some steps that can help you add the account, joe49.

In QuickBooks, we're unable to set a status for any closed account. However, you can add a description when you create the credit card account in the Chart of Accounts.

Note: You still have to record all the activities of that bank account.

Here's how to add the account:

  1.   Click the Accounting tab in the left menu.
  2.   Make sure you're on the Chart of Accounts section.
  3.   Click the New button in upper right corner.
  4.   Choose Credit Card at the Account Type and fill in the Detail Style and Name.
  5.   Save and Close.

Then, you can either add the transactions using the Web Connect feature or manually enter them.

  1. Go to Accounting on the left panel.
  2. Click Account history for the Credit Card account.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow below the Date.
  4. Add the transactions.
  5. Click Save.

I'm including information about reconciling your accounts. You can also read this article in your spare time to get more details about reconciliation.
