Want to record future sales for orders received but not being invoiced yet. Want this to reflect in inventory

A pro forma invoice is a non-posting transaction. In QuickBooks Online, there isn't a separate pro forma invoice template, but you can use a quote to create a pro forma invoice for your customers. Here's how to create a pro forma invoice template: 

 

  1. Go to Gear and then select Custom Form Styles.
  2. Click New Style and choose Estimate.
  3. Click the Content tab, then the Pencil icon at the top right panel and change "Quote" to "Pro Forma Invoice".
  4. Save the form style.

 

After you've setup your pro forma invoice template, you can create one by going to + New and then select Quote. Make sure at the bottom to choose the Custom Form Style you created by clicking on Customise

 

Please note that the inventory items added on a quote or pro forma invoice will only be reduced once you invoice your customer. For your reference, you can check on this article: How to convert a Quote to an Invoice
