This letter serves as a formal and urgent complaint against QuickBooks Online Payments for what can only be described as an outrageous and unethical handling of our merchant account and business funds. As part of our transition, we adopted QuickBooks Online to manage invoicing and accounting. Unbeknownst to us, QuickBooks automatically enabled online credit card payments. Several of our clients—trusting in our professionalism and, unfortunately, in QuickBooks—used that option. The result? QuickBooks is illegally holding our funds with no legitimate justification. On Friday, we noticed one of the credit card payments was placed on hold. After multiple failed attempts through support—including being given a non-existent email address by your chat agent and being tossed between departments without answers—we were finally told our merchant account had been closed without notice, and the funds—our customers’ money—would not be deposited. Even worse, your support team stated that we must either wait 180 days for a possible release or ask our customers to dispute the charges themselves. That is not just irresponsible—it’s disgraceful. You are asking us to direct our own customers to claim we scammed them so QuickBooks can avoid liability. This is reputational sabotage and borders on fraudulent behavior. Let me be extremely clear: • We demand that QuickBooks either (1) immediately releases the funds to our account, or (2) initiates full refunds to the original customers at no cost to them. • We will not accept a 180-day delay. That policy is punitive, arbitrary, and unreasonable. • We require this case be escalated to senior management or executive support immediately. If this matter is not resolved within 48 hours, we are prepared to take the following actions: • File formal complaints with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for illegal withholding of funds and deceptive business practices. • Submit reviews and warnings across every major business platform (BBB, Trustpilot, G2, Google) to expose the risks of using QuickBooks Payments. • Pursue legal counsel for breach of contract, interference with business operations, and potential class action on behalf of affected customers. You are not just holding funds—you are actively disrupting the financial operations of a legitimate business. We have documented all communications and failed attempts at resolution. The ball is now in your court. Respond immediately, or prepare for further action.
