If you already have 1 license for QB Online Plus, can you add new company files with out a new license for each or is this only done with desktop versions?

QuickBooks Online is a little bit different compared to the Desktop version when it comes to licensing management, Ruddling0796.

You'll need to have a separate QBO account per EIN or business. Follow these steps to add a new account using the same login credentials:

  1. Go to this website and select your country: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/choose-country/.
  2. Proceed to the Pricing menu and select the plan that you need.
  3. Click Buy Now or Free 30-Day Trial.  Then, you’ll see one of two sign-in pages:
    • If you've recently signed in, it will ask you to confirm the account you want to sign in. If it’s the right one, select “Yes, that’s correct.”
    • If you haven’t signed in recently,  it will ask you to create an Intuit account. Scroll all the way to the bottom and look for the small text that says “Adding a company to an existing account?” Click the Sign in button next to this. Then, enter the same ID and password you already use for QuickBooks.
  4. Provide all the information about the second company and follow the succeeding prompts to create the account.

You can also easily switch between accounts by following the steps in this article: How Do I Switch Companies?.

@Ruddling0796

One QBO account is for one company file.

You may have multiple company files with a single one time license of QB Desktop.
