Do you have QB Desktop 2016 US version?

Where is your company located?

I'd be glad to share the steps on how to migrate your data into QuickBooks Online (QBO), @maronthom-gmail-.

Before we start, can you share with me the region of your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT)? Migrating data files is only allowed for products with the same region.

For now, QuickBooks Desktop is only available for US and Canada versions. If you're using either other of which, let's make sure that the region of your QBO account is also the same.

Please also take note that we can't migrate data using an unsupported version of QuickBooks Desktop. Thus, I'd suggest upgrading the software first to a supported version before transferring your file.

If you don't have one, we can download a trial version of QBDT that is available to your region. Then, restore your backup file from a compatible computer before migrating them to QBO.

Here are the links you can use to download a trial version, restore a backup, and migrate your data:

If you're referring to directly restoring a backup file between two software, then this feature is unavailable.

If you're using another QBDT product with a different region, I'd suggest looking for a third-party app to complete your task. There are other third-party applications that might offer this possibility. Simply, search for the app in your QuickBooks Online account. Then, log in to your account and click the Apps menu, then look for the app in the Search bar.
