Question

I have been using QB online for a year now. I would like to know if I can reset my account to start all over again and how to take a backup of my current data

Hey there, @melnaggar.

The option to reset a QuickBooks Online (QBO) account is only available if its age is not greater than 60 days or approximately two months. If you wish to remove all of your data, you'll have to manually delete them in the system or wait until the subscription ends and start new again.

In addition, creating a backup is unavailable for QBO Simple Start, Essentials, and Plus versions. However, you can export your reports such as general ledger, profit and loss, balance sheet, and trial balance to your Excel file. This way, you can keep your data in a local hard drive and use it by the time you need it.

To export your report:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Export Data.
  2. On the Reports tab, set the date range.
  3. Add or remove items from the Reports tab by toggling the slider.
  4. Select Export to Excel.

You can also export your lists, attachments, and non-posting transactions in QuickBooks. Simply follow the steps in this article: How to export lists, and other data from QBO.
