Question

I have names in the name field, and the error message still shows that when I use Accounts Receivable, you must choose a customer in the name field. How do I proceed?

Hey there, @Adrian11_2.

Thank you for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community. I'm here to help you complete your task in QuickBooks.

Before we proceed, could you please share more details about the issue you're experiencing? Specifically, which transaction window are you encountering the error message in? Any additional information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, let's try some basic troubleshooting steps to address the issue. Sometimes, an accumulation of too much cache in your browser can cause unexpected behavior with the product. This can be the reason for the error message.

To check if this is the case, let's open your account in a private window. This mode doesn't save your search histories and activities in your browser, and it will help us identify if the concern is related to a browser problem.

Here are the shortcut keys you can use to open this mode:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If it works, please go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Alternatively, you may try using another supported browser to access QuickBooks.

If you need some help with QuickBooks, you can visit our Community Help website! It's got tons of helpful articles on all sorts of topics related to QuickBooks. Just pick a subject from the Topics drop-down menu and start reading.
