While adding category in bank transaction, i am getting error massage - You cannot track tax on accounts of types Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

Hi, ca-mfkhan. Allow me to provide insights about assigning taxes to your transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

QuickBooks allows you to track taxes on your expense, checking, and income accounts. Using accounts receivable and accounts payable to track taxes isn't available reason why you're getting this error message, You cannot track tax on accounts of types Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

 

To get your work done, you'll need to create an invoice or a bill so you can allocate taxes to your entry. This way, it'll be added to the appropriate bank account and show the tax amount you've paid.
