A company file was started on QBO in 2019 and then the following year (2020) a new company file was created on QB desktop for the same company . The were no opening entries for 2019 entered. Is there a way to import the 2020 data on QB desktop to QBO without replacing the 2019 data?

Hi zoe-hibbert4urbo,

Welcome! The QuickBooks Community encourages each member to share their knowledge, ask questions, participate in discussions, and we hope you'll find it a great resource.

QuickBooks Desktop and Online are separate platforms, and the data is recorded differently in each product. QuickBooks Desktop creates a file you can move, where QuickBooks Online is cloud-based and continuously updating. To move the entire Desktop file, you'd need to migrate, and that would replace the information that's there. What you can do is Export your QuickBooks Desktop data to an excel file and Import data into your QuickBooks Online account. You'll find what can be exported and imported and all the steps to complete the tasks in the included links.

@zoe-hibbert4urbo

You may have 2 ways to do so.

1. Utilize a migration tool. i.e TPExporter for Desktop and TPImporter for Online

2. Purchase a 3rd party migration service.
