I have been using QB for many years, but really only for stock control and invoicing. My accountant used to sort everything else out so I did not even have to enter expenses in QB. I migrated to QB on Line a couple of years back and now things are getting serious with "Go Digital" for VAT etc. and no doubt Corp Tax and Personal Tax will follow suit I am starting to use the whole QB thing properly. Its the banking and reconciliations that I have a problem with and my dear old accountant does not really know his way around QB either being a dyed in the wool Sage man. I started to enter all of the purchases and expenses back in January 2018 and so I really want all my banking info to start from then. A clean slate as it were. Any ideas as to how to go about that.?
I sent off my VAT Return last Quater to HMRC direct from QuickBooks without any problem. This Quarter the VAT page ('Taxes') is completely blank. Why and how to fix. Thanks in advance
Hi,I am an agent and new to QuickBooks. I receive payments on behalf of Authors from Publishers. I deduct my commission and then pay the rest to the Author. Say, I receive £100 from the publisher, my commission is 10%, I would then pay the Author £90.On the bank statement, it would show £100 coming in and £90 going out.My Income on the P&L should only be the £10.How do I enter these transactions in QuickBooks to reflect this?Also, I would need to send the Author a remittance advice showing the £100, less £10 Net £90Is this possible?Thanks
I opened a client account and was syncing them with their retail software. QB har recently worked directly with the Company and has made some major changes that will impact what I have already synced. I would like to remove the client account and start a new client account and move forward with the latest updates. How do I do this?

Hi there, I am new to Quickbooks Online and have recently inputted 6 months of expenses from the date we set up our business last year. When first setting up the business, we (two directors) paid for some business expenses with personal cards, so I followed the guidance in this article to record these: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Help-Articles/How-to-pay-for-business-expenses-with-personal-funds/m-p/239876 With further advice from QB support, I inputted any VAT applicable expenses with 3 lines: 1 expense category debit, 1 VAT Control debit, and 1 owner's contributions credit (separate equity accounts for the two directors) - I've attached a screenshot of an example. Now, however I've noticed that my VAT Control account does not match up to the VAT paid on purchases - none of the journal entries that I inputted are showing here as VAT that I can reclaim. As these are business expenses, I should be able to claim the VAT back but I don't know the

Hi Everyone, I have just completed my return for 17-18 and quickbooks SE doesn't seem to allow my uber rides from when I've been away with work as an allowable expenses? I was under the impression that cab rides I took for work were allowed as a travel expense?I haven't included them in my return until I could check but what are poeples thoughts? It's a good 280 quid worth of travel expenses I'm missing out on! Thanks in advance everyone.
I am preparing a sterling invoice for a British client. I need to list euro expenses (official fees) to an estimate along with expected sterling charges. I cannot see how to list those euro expenses. The expenses are set up as product/services coming from a supplier who charges in euros however EUR850 does not come out as EUR850in the estimate instead coming out as GBP850 Is there a workaround please?
My client downloaded transactions into QB going back to October but we needed it to start 1st December. Therefore the transactions up to 1st December were excluded from the bank feed. Now we need to do our first reconcile but the opening balance is wrong. I assume because it was the opening bank balance from October. How can I get the opening bank balance to show as per the bank statement from 1st December? When I look at the register I cant even see an opening balance. Again I assume because the transactions from October were excluded

Hi thereThe situation is as follows, I take a payment from a new client and keep this until our contract ends, at which point they have their money returned to them. The problem I have is that because there is a positive balance on their account, when I produce an invoice QB automatically deducts the deposit from the 'total line'How can get around this please? - Many thanks
Despite checking all previous reconciliations and changing the ending statement date i just cannot see why a few sales recipients aren't displaying when i try to reconcile? Any help appreciated!
