Call from "Quickbooks Support Team" - Fraud?

I just received a call from someone claiming to be from Quickbooks Support Team.  He gave me phone number [removed] and said his name was Ronald.  He had an Indian accent.  He claimed they were trying to do an automatic security upgrade and for some reason it was not working on our system.  This seems like a scam.  I gave them no information but he did have the first name of the owner.  I told him I'd call back when I have time.  I asked him to clarify that he is with Quickbooks and he confirmed.  I have NEVER received a call from QB.  Is this a scam?

Hello, @carefree123.

Thanks for bringing this matter to our attention. I'm here to help share on how we can prevent these fraud calls from parties claiming to be affiliated with Intuit.

As mentioned by the previous replies on this thread, outbound calls from a QuickBooks representative should not ask for any personal information. If you keep receiving this kind of call, I'd suggest reporting this information through our email.

Don't hesitate to let me know if you have other questions about fraudulent calls. I'll be around to help.

I have received a few calls with the same issues. They ask to speak to whoever handles the QuickBooks or Accounts Payable.

I logged in to my Intuit and QuickBooks account, and advised them all my subscriptions are up to date and there are no payment error notifications. He insists this is a different subscription for other things like data back-up.

This time the call came from QB Support [Phone number removed]

@dixieflower   It was a fraud call.  Hopefully you didn't give them any info.

I always tell them that I know they are scammers and if they don't stop contacting me, I will turn them in.  For the most part, they have quite calling.  I MIGHT get one call a year now, where I used to get 5 or 6.

This scam is still ongoing! I received a call yesterday and it came across the caller ID as " QUICKBOOKS". A lady with an Indian accent said that she was calling because the payment information they have on file is declining our payment. I asked what the last 4 numbers were on the card and she said she didn't have access to that information and would have someone from the billing department call me back. A few minutes later she called back and said she has the email to send an invoice to or I can go ahead and pay over the phone for my convenience. She told me it would be for two years. I told her I would go ahead and wait for the invoice and an invoice never came so I called Quickbooks and they said our subscription is on a monthly basis and it was up to date. I then googled the phone number and this thread came up. I almost fell for it because the name "QUICKBOOKS" came across on the caller ID and not just the phone number of 858-402-0343.

@christi84   Just know that QB will NEVER contact you for any reason, other than you requesting a callback to receive tech support.  If there is something up with your card, they just lock you out of your acct. They will never call for payment.

I received a call from a man named Dustin with an indian accent claiming that our payment was denied. I know our payment was not denied so I told him to resend the invoice. He emailed me an invoice that looks shady. I have attached the email he sent me.

@mollya   You obviously didn't read any part of this thread, otherwise you would know that QB will NEVER contact you for payment, or anything else, unless you request a callback for support purposes.

IT WAS FRAUD.  They just want your money.  It's NOT QB that is calling you.

On the contrary, I did read the thread which is why I was commenting about my experience. But thank you for being rude, it was very helpful.
