I can see how important it is to send your invoices to your customers on time from QuickBooks Desktop. 

 

There are possible reasons why you are unable to send an invoice in QuickBooks. One of the reasons is that the QuickBooks Desktop version you are using is outdated. Make sure to update QuickBooks to the latest release

 

The other reason is that something in your web email security settings is preventing you from sending forms through QuickBooks. To fix this you'll need to review your email provider's security settings and other filter preferences.

 

If you're using Gmail, here's what you can do:

 

  1. Enable access for less secure apps.
  2. You can also set access preferences for specific apps such as QuickBooks.
  3. Return to QuickBooks and email yourself a test transaction. If it still doesn't work, you can disable the 2-Step Verification feature in your Gmail account.

 

Also, you'll be prompted to authorize QuickBooks Desktop whenever you send a transaction if you've set up Gmail to use enhanced security. You can use this link as a reference: Reauthorize QuickBooks Desktop to keep using Gmail


If you're using Yahoo! mail, here's what you need to do:

 

  1. Go to your Yahoo Account Security page.
  2. Turn on the Two-step verification and Allow apps that use less secure sign in features.
  3. Go back to QuickBooks and email yourself a test transaction. If you still can't send emails, use Yahoo's generate third-party app passwords tool. It creates a random password you can use to connect QuickBooks. You only need to do this once.

The common reasons why employees are not withheld with federal taxes are the following:

 

  • The employee claims to be tax-exempt.
  • If the employee's wages didn't meet the minimum threshold.

To rectify this, we can check various factors that affect your taxes. First, your payroll wages, deductions, or contributions are correct, then update if needed in your payroll product. Next to it, check the employee’s federal filing status by following the steps below:

 

  1. Navigate to the Payroll menu and select the Employees tab.
  2. Click the name of the employee.
  3. Under the What are [employee's name] withholdings section, click the Pencil icon.
  4. Make sure the federal status is not Do No Withhold (exempt).

After you've double-checked that everything is in order, I recommend looking at the Payroll Tax and Wage Summary report. It explains how QuickBooks calculates tax amounts on employee paychecks as well as the wage base limit for each employee's tax.

  1. Go to the Reports tab located on the left pane.
  2. Type Payroll Tax and Wage Summary in the search box and press Enter.
  3. Modify the date range and click Run Report.

I am doing payroll.  this is my first time.  I change the time to number to calculate exact pay.  When I input the time to QB payroll, it takes time format only.  Can I input the time with number?  for example.  I like to put 7.5 for

7 hours 30 min.

Are you using the QuickBooks Online (QBO) or QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT)? If you're using the Online version, please know that the option you're trying to access is unavailable and that the time format is in minutes, not decimal.

In case you're using the desktop version, these are the steps to modify the time format inside your company file:

 

  1. Access your QuickBooks Desktop company.
  2. On the top right corner, click the Edit menu and select Preference.
  3. Select General, and then click the Company Preferences tab.
  4. In the Time Format section, tick the Radio button beside Decimal.
  5. Once done, click the OK button.

 

If you're using the Online version, please know that the option you're trying to access is unavailable and that the time format is in minutes, not decimal.
