Nothing more irritating then clicking something you didn't want to because you can't remove or move or hide it.

It's in the way of reminders and closing and should be hidden away like the new features was. How do I move  or preferably hide the Discovery Hub.

Hey there, @magnolials.

It's great to see you back in the Community. Let's work together to get this resolved as soon as possible.

To clarify how this looks in your account, can you please provide us with a screenshot of this Discovery Hub? I want to ensure that we give you the best solution to get this fixed.

Hit the Reply button when you're ready. I'll be right around the corner!

Well, I can't get anything to attach, so I must be doing it wrong. Anyway off in the right hand corner by the reminders and the x to close, up on the top menu bar, sits a button labeled  Discovery Hub. Inevitably I will click it instead of Reminders and I haven't seen a way to remove it from the bar or hide it or what ever. Please come up with a way to hide it and let me or us if any others want to know, how to take care of it.

Thanks for those details, magnolials.

In this particular situation, I recommend sending a message to the product engineers to let them know you'd like to have the option to remove or relocate the Discovery Hub.

Here's how to get your feedback submitted:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Send Feedback Online.
  2. Click Product Suggestion.
  3. Choose a feedback type and product area on the QuickBooks Feedback window.
  4. Enter your suggestion or feedback, name, and email address (optional).
  5. Select the Send Feedback Online.

Keep an out for an email message regarding any updates. You're always welcome here if you have any other questions or concerns.

This is super annoying in an application I've paid for! Please give us the option to turn off completely Discovery Hub or these annoying attempts at trying to sell us more!

February 22, 2022

This isn't the expression we want you to have, MATTSPWS.

We begin to roll out the new changes and update to our QuickBooks Desktop product. The new way to explore the best of what we offer is by opening the Discovery hub via an icon in the top menu bar.

The option to hide or remove it entirely from the software is currently unavailable. I recommend that you submit a product suggestion to our product engineer, as suggested by my colleague MorganB. They'll go through your request and, if it's approved, they may eliminate or add the ability to hide it in a future update.

You can also visit our Help articles page for reference to find some helpful topics and discussions on managing your QuickBooks Desktop.

You're always welcome to post your reply if you have further questions or concerns. We're here to back you up.

Ok is there any way to turn off the little drop down window that blocks part of the screen? Maybe have a notification like the reminders button.

Echoing what everyone else in this thread is saying...provide a way to turn this feature off. It should be a user &/or company preference. I, like everyone else, found this very obtrusive and annoying so I searched for how to turn it off only to find it's not possible. Does anyone really believe leaving feedback will really accomplish anything?

So one month later and still have the Discovery Hub. This popped up while opening Company tab. This should be buried in the tabs like it used to be. Please, please fix this. I agree with the others, we pay too much to put up with popups.  This is not a game that it is acceptible to show ads. It is a paid program and not acceptible for pop ups in a paid program.

Hi there, @magnolials.

As per my colleague above, we begin to roll out the new update to our QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) product via the Discovery Hub. However, I can see that this pop-up window can affect your experience while navigating with QuickBooks. For now, you can use the Feedback feature to send the idea of removing the tab to our engineering team. This way, they could take action to help improve your experience. Rest assured they're working nonstop to enhance the product and deliver the best experiences to all QuickBooks users.

Here's how you can send feedback through QuickBooks:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) file.
  2. Go to the Help menu, then Send Feedback Online.
  3. Tap on Product Suggestion.
  4. Enter your feedback or suggestions.
  5. Hit the Send Feedback button.

Your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development Team to help improve your QuickBooks experience.

Please know that QuickBooks always considers product suggestions based on the number of requests. The more users want this feature, the big chances it'll be part of future enhancements.

On the other hand, you can get more related resources while working with QBDT from this link: Find QuickBooks help articles, Community discussions with other QuickBooks users, video tutorials, and more.

If you have any other QuickBooks questions, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm just a post away to help. Have a good one!

So i sent the feedback,,, again,,,. Really wished this was easily closed and taken off as in the customizable task menu below it. I have used Quickbooks since 2000 and this is the fourth time you have really irked me with the changes or lack of changes to improve this program. And all 4 times have not been addressed, changed, improved or in this case moved/removed and they all have to do with simple changes to improve everyday use items.

If you represent Intuit support and don't know what the DIscovery Hub is in QuickBooks then you really have no business responding to this thread.

June 19, 2022

You can't.  It's Intuit's newest nagware system to draw in more business.

August 3, 2022

You could closed by mowing inside the open window to the right. There is the x close out button.

FIX THIS NOW! You've been ignoring your customers for way too long. This thread and the request to remove your FORCED SPAM feature dates all the way back to February 2022. It's unacceptable that you've allowed this to continue for so long. Remove the DISCOVERY HUB immediately! It's a huge annoyance and it steals valuable time and productivity since there's no way to turn off these annoying ads. I paid for a software license and I don't want to be bombarded with ads. Every time the DISCOVERY HUB pops up, it obstructs my workflow and the only way to get rid of it is to completely exit QBooks and restart. I have no interest in anything it's trying to sell me, and I will never allow it to distract me from my work. TURN IT OFF NOW!

April 22, 2023

I'm wondering when you all will realize this is just the latest tactic to get us all to move to Quickbooks Online. Today I had a popup that refused to go away until I rebooted my entire computer. Nice, sly manipulation, right? Make us all tear our hair out until we abandon Quickbooks Desktop, hopefully in favor of QBO but if not, no biggie, they're making so much money off Online it doesn't matter. These responses about developers working around the clock to make Desktop better is BS, they are working around the clock to find new ways to make us all switch from Desktop. And they're doing a really good job if this thread is any indication.

April 27, 2023

Please tell me how to remove or hide this.

I appreciate you for joining in on this thread, Crystal.

At this time, we're unable to remove the Discovery Hub feature from the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) menu bar. That said, I'd encourage you to submit your feedback directly to our software engineers. They collect customer suggestions that might be a subject for consideration for our future product enhancements.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and click Send Feedback Online.
  2. Select the Product Suggestion option.
  3. Enter your feature request and select the Send Feedback button.

I'll also share a collection of articles that may help with your future issues: Help Articles for QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know in the comments below if you have other QBDT-related concerns. I'm always here to help. Stay safe!
