QBDT Enterprise 2023 - Errors after latest update

Hello,

I installed the latest updates to Desktop Enterprise 23 two days ago, restarted the server, and now have several errors and issues. This is a Windows Server 2012. So basically when any company file is opened, even a sample one, a screen pops ups that says "Somethings not quite right." The Home page loads, and the company file seems to work, but certain functions like "Taking Payments" causes and "Unrecoverable Error" and QuickBooks crashes.

I contacted support yesterday and worked on this for four hours to no avail. - QuickBooks Case# 151.173.012.99

We ran every kind of QuickTools Hub repair, did a full uninstall/reinstall, a clean uninstall/reinstall, I created a new Windows profile to test, we created new users, Reset Updates, I ran System File Checker and DISM, checked DNS and flushed/registered it, changed server, but nothing is working. I am seeing reports of this issue recently on these forums and reddit, so it feels like something broke with this update.

The "Tier2" support my support rep was talking to, basically said it's the computer fault. This can't be because it's been working for years, but a QuickBooks update installed and now it's not working. That doesn't sound like the computer caused the issue.

Here are the various error logs

"An unexpected error has occured in "Intuit QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions: Contractor 23.0":
LTSM:: Failure in parsing EWS Response. PSID=[removed]"

"An unexpected error has occured in "QuickBooks":
MainFrame must be already created by now as this dll is demand loaded"

"An unexpected error has occured in "Intuit QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions: Contractor 23.0":
QuickBooks has experienced a problem and must be shut down, ErrorCode:4064236478."

Thank you, I already contacted QuickBooks support (see my case# in my original post). Tier 2 basically blamed the computer, but as you can see "coakley OGC" just replied with the same issue. There must be a compatibility problem with this latest update and Server 2012 R2. Please fix this issue.

Just wanted to chime in.  Having the same trouble (Server 2012r2 - which I confirmed is supposed to be supported).  Only difference is mine isn't Enterprise (although I also have it installed and could likely confirm the same to be true).  I updated 2023 Pro and Ent over the weekend and now having all kinds of crashing issues (emailing invoices, etc).  Also having the "Something's not right.  We're unable to complete your request at the moment, try again later" screens upon intial login to a company file.

This is a reproducible issue.  Intuit, please fix and release another patch to address.

Regards

Unpopular solution - We did an inplace upgrade on 2012 to 2016 and it works fine, Alternatively you can uninstall QBs and not do the updates until they sort it out

May 15, 2024

Thank you, I had a feeling it was a compatibility issue with 2012. With the updates though, when we defer them, QuickBooks will have a pop up that says something like "You have three more days before the updates will be forced to install" or something like that, so I don't know if rolling back to an earlier version would work for very long.

Scott in support found this version (R11-34) of QB Enterprise 2023 that fixed the issue. Uninstalled existing QB23, rebooted Server (2012 R2), loaded this version up and declined all offers to update. Unfortunately automatic updates can't be turned off. So it's working at the moment, but who knows for how long.

Exact same issue here with same setup

Let me share more information about 2012r2 with Enterprise 23.0, @GS-ALLNP.

Please know that QuickBooks Enterprise 23 is compatible and can work seamlessly with Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard and Essentials. To resolve the error, I recommend performing the troubleshooting steps shared by the other users above. You'll want to perform a clean install in QBDT and reboot your Windows server.

However, if the error persists, I recommend reaching out to our support team for further investigation. They can securely access your account and work with you to resolve this issue.

Here's how:
  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Help or Contact Us.
  2. Provide a brief description of the issue, and hit Continue.
  3. Sign in to your Intuit account, select Continue, and then click Continue with my account.
  4. Check your email for a single-use code from us, enter your code, and select Continue.
  5. Select Chat with Us or Have us call you.

Moreover, you can also check this article to learn more about rebuilding your QuickBooks Data: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you still have questions about your server 2012r2 with QuickBooks Enterprise 23.0. Have a great day.

Unfortunately when I go and press anything on the HELP menu QB provides a system error and closes Quick books.

How could this have been marked as "Solved", rolling back the patch isn't a real solution. I assume that QB would only allow a user to defer the update 3-4 times before forcing it, as this has become the new normal for QB.

We need a patch to solve this issue that is affecting so many users. This patch literally renders QB unusable on the server and only workstations operating in Windows on the network can open the file and have full functionality without the COM Error crashing it.

In our case, anytime QB needs to access the internet in connection with a function, this crash occurs, such as Receive Payment, Help, etc.

I recognize the urgency of getting the best resolution to fix the COM Errors you received after updating QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), Wrangler. Finding the best solution for the issue is essential and the top priority. I'm here to provide workarounds to help you access your company file and other functionalities without receiving errors.

Since rolling back the patch didn't resolve this prompt, you can check the compatibility mode of your servers. The update could be incompatible with the Windows you're using. You could also visit the System Requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2023 article as a reference for more helpful info about desktop compatibilities.

I'll show you the steps on how to review the software properties:

  1. Right-click QuickBooks on your desktop and select Properties.
  2. On the Compatibility tab, mark the Run this program in compatibility mode for: in the Compatibility mode.
  3. Choose a Window in the dropdown.
  4. In the Settings section, tick the Run this program as an administrator checkbox.
  5.  Hit Apply, then OK.

You may follow other strategies to fix it if the procedure above doesn't work. However, if the issue persists, I suggest contacting our Desktop Support for further guidance. They have the necessary tools to assess your account securely and investigate its cause.

In the event of primary hardware or software failures or errors, making backups of your company file or exporting list and transactions is recommended to secure and recover these data.

The information provided should assist you in resolving COM errors crashing your QuickBooks Desktop. When you have other questions or queries, comment back, and I'm here determined to lend a hand.

Having the exact same issue. Was on the phone with Intuit support and was getting the run around telling me it was my problem and not theirs. I requested to be bumped up to either level 2 or level 3 support and was told that they could not do it. Hopefully Intuit actually does something about this soon.
