Quickbooks is crashing after updating to Sonoma. What to do?

QBD 2019 is outdated and I am not sure they will release any patches any longer. Consider immediately installing the trial version of QBD 2022 and/or 2023 and using the workaround to get it running on Sonoma. You may have time to consider the option of whether to purchase a new subscription license for QBD 2024 in October OR run a trial version of QB Desktop Windows for good on Parallels OR convert your data to QB Online or another cloud based accounting app.

I'll share some information about the crashing issues, JB.

We receive reports about the QuickBooks crashing issues after updating to Sonoma. This investigation has been identified as INV-93522. Our engineers are working to get this fixed in the shortest possible time.

While we don't have a temporary workaround, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can add you to the list as one of the affected users experiencing this issue.

Beyond that, learn from these different resources in case you encounter issues when using QuickBooks for Mac: QuickBooks Desktop For Mac.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about QuickBooks for Mac. We're here to get you covered.

"shortest possible time"? Where have I heard that before?

Don't hold your breath.

I feel the same way.  this is just going to lead to them telling me my best option is to upgrade to the latest version!

Stupidest suggestion yet.  We can't open our QB to "Go to the help menu".

Writing to the attorney general's office.  This is nothing short of holding users hostage.  You have all of our emails when we registered our software.

Absolutely unacceptable situation.  Intuit should have emailed a warning to their users ~ not to update to Sonoma.

Same, mac 2019 desktop and can’t get qb to open. I tried subscribing to the online service but qb online doesn’t recognize their own .qb2019 file. What to do?

@woods9898

They have released patches for QBD 2021-2023. As I know, no outstanding issue.

What is the solution to login to the 2023 version?

In my case with new Sonoma updated QB 2019 I just would get the spinning Beach ball so bought  QB 2023 and same thing spinning Beach ball. Moved QB 2019 to computer without Sonoma and everything works ok. Canceled QB 2023.

Thanks

Looks like I'll be moving QuickBooks to an older computer. QB 2019 is the final purchase I will be making from this company—I'm not going to start renting bookkeeping software I've owned for the last 20 years.

Downgrade to Ventura. It ain’t easy or quick but qb runs fine in Ventura

This happened to me as well.

I'm running QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2021. I would certainly select the "Contact Us" from QuickBooks as recommended to the on the list of affected users, but I can't even open QuickBooks so it's not possible to select "Contact Us."

What are the options other than cloud-based QuickBooks? It's against a lot of client's policy to use cloud-based services and I need to get this resolved ASAP.

So somehow I was able to get QuickBooks to open and was able to download the software update. All is good now.

What update?

Link here please...

I am also having issues related to the Sonoma update. I have QuickBooks for Mac 2020. When I would go to the Home Page to create an Invoice then I would get the spinning ball. So I got on here to try and fix it. I saw a link to download QuickBooks Desktop 2021 since it seemed that was still support and I was panicking. So I downloaded it, everything went smooth. No more problems. But I can’t register it. I never got an email with any numbers. I was thinking somehow it was a free upload. When I try to choose Manage license… Buy Additional License is gray and can’t be selected. I can only open it 13 more times. I have Version V20.0.12 R13.3 and it says User Licenses 0.

@CristiM_Ww

I can share the installer file for a 30 day trial version of QB Desktop 2021. Contact me personally and we can offer you some options to consider later.

This does not seem like the solution I'm looking for. I don't want to postpone the problem. I just want to get a license for the product I downloaded and seems to be working with Sonoma just fine. Or if the Team has fixed the issue with Quickbooks for Mac 2020, how do I delete this unlicensed 2021 version and go back to using my pay for 2020?
