How to disable Manual Time Card

We would like to disable the manual time card option for employees as we would like to be able to always see the clock in and clock out times. Is there a way to shut off this setting, while still allowing employees to edit their times on the time sheet tab?

I can help you with disabling manual time cards for your employees in QuickBooks Workforce, @kellyfmt.

 

You can go to the Company Settings to disable your employees' option to manage their own timesheets. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. From your QuickBooks Time account, go to the Company Settings, select Time Options and click on Time Entry.
  2. Uncheck Allow team members to manage their own timesheets, and Allow team members to track time on the mobile app, then Save.
  3. Go to My Team and choose a team member.
  4. Click the Permissions tab.
  5. Select Mobile time entry, and then Save.If you want them to have access to manage their timesheets from any platform, select Manage my timesheets, then Save.
  6. To grant mobile time entry access, repeat the process for each team member you wish to disable it for.

The "allow team members to manage their own timesheets" option is already unchecked. When I go into the permissions tab, the "Mobile Time Entry" box is greyed out. Thanks for trying to help. Is there another work around?

We can perform some troubleshooting steps together to resolve your issue to allow team members to manage their timesheets, kellyfmt.

I've replicated your scenario on my end and the Mobile time entry" box is not greyed out.  That said, let's isolate the problem and log in to your account using an incognito browser. 

 

 

 

The private browser prevents saving cache and cookies that sometimes cause errors when running frequently visited websites. Here are the shortcut keys:

 

  • Ctrl + Shift + N for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Firefox
  • Control + Option + P for Safari

 

Then, we can set the permission again. You can check out this article for the steps and details: Team member settings and permissions in QuickBooks Time. If it works, return to your default browser and clear its cache. Every so often the cache becomes overwhelmed with older data which can potentially cause viewing and performance issues. Clearing it will refresh the system, and you'll be able to work with a clean slate. Switching to another compatible one to help rectify the issue.
