Question

How to enter Timesheets for a Vendor that is Contractor

I am a new user to Quickbooks and was informed during the sales process that with Quickbooks Online Advanced I would be able to enter Weekly and Single Activity Timesheets for contractors that I have setup as Vendors.  When I go to Time --> Time Entries I only see the option to "Add Time" for employees.  I have a couple vendors created but can not figure out how to enter time for them and I don't want to set them up as Employees because they are Contractors.  From the help articles, it looks like there should be options for Weekly and Single Activity Time sheets.  Any help is appreciated.

Thank You

I got steps so you can enter time activities for your vendors seamlessly, @suvakcw.

To start, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the +New button.
  2. Under Employees, choose either Single time activity or Weekly timesheet.
  3. From the Name dropdown, select the name of the vendor.
  4. Input some needed info.
  5. Enter the number of hours and minutes worked in the Time field.
  6. Once done, click Save.

Then, to look for sources that can help you with your QuickBooks tasks, you can visit our Help articles page. Simply type a keyword of your concern on the search field and let the system show related articles to help you.

If you have additional questions about entering time for your vendors, please post a reply below. I'll be on the lookout for your response. Have a good one.

Good Morning,

Thank you for the response.  However, when I follow those instructions I do not see the options that you stated should be there.  I am attaching a screen shot of what I see in my account.

Thanks,

Chad

Thanks for trying out the steps provided by my peer above, Chad. We can figure this out together.

You should have the option if you purchased Payroll Core. If you purchased Payroll Premium or Elite, you should have the Time tab functionality on the left navigation menu to track time for your vendors. Let's try opening your account using a private browser.

There are times that your browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, causing QuickBooks Online (QBO) to act strange.

You can refer to these shortcut keys:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + P for Firefox.
  • Press Ctrl Shift N for Chrome.
  • Hold down Command Shift N for Safari.

If it works, I'd suggest clearing your regular browser's cache to eliminate excessive files in your browser. Otherwise, use another supported browser as an alternative.

Also, I've added an article to learn more information about tracking and managing timesheets in QBO: Track and manage timesheets in QuickBooks Online.

I'm always here if you need more help managing your timesheets.
