Project Hours

We're trying to take a quick look at project hours with their hours listed out. We do office work and field work and charge differently for those hours. We need to see a detailed break down of employee hours without having to do an itemized total time report. I want to see the detailed hours for the whole project, not just for a time period so we can invoice correctly for the hours worked. Is there a way to do this without going to the project, looking at the employees who worked on the project, then going through their time entries to find the entries where they put hours on the project, then checking if it was field or office?

Hi BullMooseSurveying,

Welcome aboard to the Community space. I'm here to share information about the data you need regarding the employee hours in QuickBooks.

The closest report you can run without going to the project is the Time Activities by Employee Detail report. You can filter your data to show the projects, hours, class/location, and other information.

Here's how:

  1. On the left navigation bar, click Reports.
  2. Select Time Activities by Employee Detail.
  3. Set the date range.
  4. Click the small Gear icon within the report to add or hide columns.
  5. Click Customize.
  6. Filter the project if necessary.
  7. Hit Run report.

Financial reports give you tons of great info about your business. For additional guidance in customizing and creating custom reports in QuickBooks, you can visit this link: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
