Quickbooks Time and Quickbooks Online

We have previously used Quickbooks Time for time entry and applying time to projects and processed payroll through Quickbooks Payroll Premium version, but we are moving our payroll processing to ADP and discontinuing using the payroll portion of Quickbooks. We will continue to use QB Time for our time entry so I would like to know if we cancel the payroll subscription will we still be able to use the Time feature for time entry against projects?  And how do payroll costs integrate to our GL since this previously happened through the payroll processing?

We appreciate you for raising your concern about QuickBooks Time (QB Time) and QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP) concern here, @EWhite99.

 

Let me share insights so you can still utilize QB Time without payroll.

 

You can still use QB Time as a stand-alone for the employee's time entries by disconnecting the integration of QBOP. Here's how:

 

  1. In the left navigation, select Feature Add-ons. Then, Manage Add-ons.
  2. Type in QuickBooks Online in the Search field.
  3. Once it shows, click the Uninstall icon beside it.
  4. Then, click the Close tab in the pop-up.

 

Since you'll want to integrate with ADP, we need to manually enter payroll data in QB via Journal Entry or utilize a third-party app to sync the payroll transactions from ADP to QBO removing the need to enter them manually. Let's just ensure to associate the transactions with the proper project to track the exact costs.
