Yes, you can go to your Chart of Accounts and edit the name of the category, hello45.

Let me give you the steps on how to do it. Here's how:

  1. Open your Chart of Accounts.
  2. Look for the expense category.
  3. Click the drop-down list beside Run Report, then select Edit.
  4. Rename the expense category and click Save and close

Also, please take note that there are special accounts that can't be edited or deleted. See these guides for more info:

Jeno,

Can this be done in QB Self Employed? I don't seem to have a Chart of Accounts!

Glad to see you here, @NaomiC. I can share with you how to edit category expenses.

You seem not to see the Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Self-Employed because this is currently unavailable. Also, you can change the category of the transactions, but we're unable to edit or rename them.

For more insights, you can also refer to this article: Categorise transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Additionally, let me attach this link to help you learn the basics of QuickBooks Self-Employed: QBSE Overview. It covers some insights on how to enter business transactions into your account.

Fill me in if you have other questions about the managing expenses category in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to help you again. Keep safe and take care.
