Can I set up a budget for a period which isn't the financial year?

Let me share details about why you can’t create a budget for the period that you want in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

Since you have set your financial year to June, QuickBooks will automatically start your budget date on that month. If you want to pursue creating a budget that starts in January, you have to change the starting date of your financial year.

Here’s how:

1. Click on the Gear icon, then select Account and Setting.
2. Choose Advance, then click the pencil icon in the Accounting section.
3. Set your First month of the financial year to January by clicking the dropdown button.
4. Once done, click on Save.
