You can pull up the Customer Balance Detail report in QuickBooks Online (QBO), and I'm here to show you how, @bogatyij

Financial and/or transaction reports give you snapshots of different areas of your business. You can easily monitor your customer balances in foreign currency by customising the Customer Balance Detail report. Then, you'll have to add the appropriate foreign currency columns (i.e., Foreign Open Balance and Foreign Amount). To do this, here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Type in Customer in the search box and select Customer Balance Detail.
  3. Set the Report period.
  4. Choose the Small Gear icon above the report and add the appropriate foreign currency columns.
  5. Click anywhere on the page or the Run report button to update.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the last three steps.

After that, you'll have the option to save the report's current customisation settings for future use. If you wish to know more about this, you can check out this article: Memorise reports in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, most reports are accessible for all QBO users. However, some are only available for certain subscription levels. To know the complete list for your version of QBO, you can refer to this article: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription

Let me know in the comments below if you have other concerns about managing your customer balances in QBO. I'll be glad to help. Stay safe and have a good one.

This is great, thanks. As it turns out, that's exactly what I have been doing for individual customer accounts. What's extra helpful is your suggestion about saving the customisation and using the "memorising" facility, which I shall adopt.

I wonder if I could delve further?

I'm preparing the client to transfer to a new accountant. In order to provide a list of customer balances in Euros and their associated translated balances in GBP, is there one report that can produce this? It would make the transition much smoother.

At the moment, I'm thinking of doing as you set out but showing all customers where it also shows the outstanding transactions, but it's a long report. Any suggestions?

Much appreciated

Matthew

Doesn’t do it for me. Very poor “fix” There should be a facility for a report by currency. That solves everything!!
