Hello,I am just setting up a new chart of accounts. How do I edit or delete an account with sub accounts?Thank you

I'd be glad to assist you in handling your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO), hshawkat. 

 

QuickBooks doesn't delete accounts but makes them inactive for easy access to past transaction data for reporting. Here's how to edit or delete an account with sub-accounts: 

 

  1. Go to your chart of accounts.
  2. Locate the account in question, then click its dropdown button.
  3. Choose Edit or Make Inactive.

 

Please note that removing the parent account will also deactivate its sub-accounts, but they can be made inactive individually. Moreover, updating their data requires individual editing.
