Hi, I have done my accounting outside of quickbooks for the past 18 months and need to reset everything to start from my last financial year, starting Nov 2021.

I have a few steps on how to reset everything and start over in QuickBooks Online. 

 

I agree with Fiat Lux-Asia. If you're using QuickBooks Online and Essential, you can delete the file if it's within 60 days old and start a new one. 

 

To reset your company data:

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Edit the URL on the address bar. remove everything after app/and enter purgecompany. For example: https://...qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany
  3. Click Yes to confirm the action.
     
  4. On the next page, select Wipe data.

 

However, if it's active for 90 days or more, we have to cancel your account, then start a new subscription.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Click the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
  3. Choose Billing & Subscription tab.
  4. Click Cancel Subscription.
  5. Hit Continue to cancel.
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

 

Once done, visit the QuickBooks homepage and sign up for the latest account. You can utilize the same user ID and password that you used previously.

If you are using QBO Simple Start or your account is > 60 days old, you should cancel your QBO account and purchase a new one instead.
