Hi simon-gerra-theb

The TB report is designed to show credit and debit accounts in columns with totals that are equal, and as such it's not possible to format this into a single column. 👩‍💻

Hi, In every other finance package I have used you simply have Credits as negative and Debits as positive numbers in a single column. If this is not possible I think it would be a simply piece of development work for your developers to create as in Excel you can do this by adding a third column C and inputting the formula A - B = C Single column trial balance. Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to us here, @simon-gerra-theb.

I appreciate the idea of adding a third column for the formula. I can see your thoughts and experience would help us to provide a more customer-friendly interface of the product. Rest assured, your encounter and suggestion have been shared with our Developers.

In the meantime, you'll want to export the Trial Balance report to Excel so you can insert an additional column.

To export:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Enter Trial Balance in the search field.
  3. Select the Report period and then tap the Export icon next to the Printer icon.

After that, an Excel Spreadsheet will open, from there you can insert a column for the formula. Want more details about this option? Check out this guide: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.
