There are two options on how you can enter an overpayment from the bank statement to a supplier, chuili-bookkeepe.

First, you can enter a credit depending on how you record your purchases and apply it toward any open or future bill. Let me guide you how:

1. Click the Plus icon and select Supplier Credit.

2. From the Supplier drop-down list, select your supplier.

3. Depending on how you record purchases with this supplier, enter the Category details or Item details. Usually, this is the category, product, or service you’re getting a credit for.

4. Select Save and close button.

Once done, you can now apply a supplier credit toward any open or future bill. When you’re ready to use the credit, please check this article on how to perform the steps: Enter a credit from a supplier.

Second, I suggest creating a bank deposit to record the overpayment as a refund. I'll show you how.

1. Click the Plus icon and select Bank Deposit.

2. From the Bank Deposit window, go to the Add New Deposit section.

3. Under the Receive From column, choose the supplier you overpaid.

4. From the Account column, choose account as the affected account.

5. Enter the refund amount.

6. Click the Save and close button.

Once a deposit is entered, you'll see a positive balance in your supplier's information page.  To zero it out, you'll need to link the deposit to a supplier credit. Please refer to this article on how to do it: How do I handle supplier credits and refunds?.

You can always go to the Suppliers menu to easily view your supplier transactions. From there, you can also edit and delete them. To learn more about this page, check out this article: Suppliers overview.
